About Monterey Motion
Crafted to captivate — every frame, every beat.
About
Monterey Motion is a one-man production studio driven by a deep love for storytelling, cinematic timing, and creating something that matters. Founded by Kurtis Carpenter, a filmmaker and editor based on California’s Central Coast, the work is rooted in emotion, intention, and the belief that a well-told story can leave a lasting mark.
Kurtis started Monterey Motion with a creative itch and a passion for capturing the world — whether it’s a live concert, a community event, a heartfelt interview, or a story told for future generations. Every project is approached like a visual symphony: choosing the right music, hitting the right beats, and delivering something that feels perfectly timed and deeply human.
As a director and storyteller, Kurtis thrives in the edit room — blending motion, audio, and feeling into something he's proud to put his name on. He’s constantly learning, always open to collaboration and critique, and driven by the reaction his videos evoke.
Whether it’s the energy of a music video, the warmth of a parade, or the vulnerability of a personal story, Monterey Motion exists to craft visual experiences that connect, move, and resonate.
Why I Create
Stories deserve to be remembered.
Timing cuts feels like magic.
Emotion belongs on screen.
I’ve always been drawn to the creative process — especially when it means helping others share something meaningful. Whether it’s a family interview, a small business sharing their purpose, or a parade lighting up the night, I’m most alive when I’m filming, editing, and shaping something that will last.

I’ve made a lot of videos that no one’s ever seen — not because I wasn’t proud of the effort, but because I knew I could do better. That drive to improve, to stay open to feedback, and to grow with every project… that’s why I keep creating. Because when it feels right — when the music hits, the visuals lock in, and the story shines — there’s nothing better.
